World of Warcraft players can now access the Auction House on their phones

Blizzard’s World of Warcraft MMORPG is essentially a PC game, which means that almost everything about the game is done on your computer. For those who enjoy the economy of the game and its Auction House feature, you might be interested to learn that Blizzard has announced that the Auction House will be making a comeback in the WoW Companion App.

For those unfamiliar, World of Warcraft’s Auction House used to be available on mobile from 2011 right up to 2018. Blizzard removed the feature after it was discovered that it was being abused which resulted in disruption of the player economy and in some cases, caused in-game latency.

But now the company feels like they’ve ironed out the kinks by creating new frameworks to support the feature, ultimately arriving at the version that they are launching now. With the new mobile Auction House, players will be able to browse and view current auctions, bid and buyout auctions, search for auctions, add or remove items from your Favorites list, and also view and cancel listed auctions.

If there is one feature that isn’t available, it would be to actually create an auction. Presumably this is because it would require access to the player’s inventory which would add more complexity to the feature. As Blizzard notes, this feature isn’t being aimed at hardcore traders, but if you’re on the go and think of certain items that you want to buy for crafting or using when you log on later, this could be one way to go about it.

The Auction House will be part of the WoW Companion App (Android/iOS) following the 9.2.7 patch that will be dropping on the 16th of August.
