The problem with foldable phones is in its displays. This is because with constant opening and closing, these displays will wear out a lot faster compared to more traditional smartphone displays. Also, since they’re considered newer pieces of tech, repairing them is generally more expensive.
But that won’t be the case for Samsung’s latest foldables – the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4. This is because when Samsung announced the phones, they also revealed that those who enroll in Samsung Care+ will be able to get the displays of these phones repaired from as little as $29, which is crazy cheap when you think about it.
For those unfamiliar, Samsung Care+ is Samsung’s subscription service for its devices where for $11 a month, customers can get access to 24/7 support, coverage against accidental spills, and more. Prior to this, those enrolled in the program would have to pay a deductible of $249 for a screen repair, and that’s in addition to the $11 a month that customers were already paying.
Now with this change, Samsung is claiming that display repairs for either model could be as low as $29. While hopefully not many people will need to bring their phones in for repair, the fact that repairing your foldable’s display is now so much cheaper, it could encourage more customers to hop on board who might have otherwise been worried about the display’s long-term durability.
