WhatsApp will be embarking on a privacy campaign, and here’s what you can expect
If you’re someone who uses WhatsApp extensively, then you might be interested to learn that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced on Facebook that they will be bringing several new privacy related features to the app. According to Zuckberberg:
“New privacy features coming to WhatsApp: exit group chats without notifying everyone, control who can see when you’re online, and prevent screenshots on view once messages. We’ll keep building new ways to protect your messages and keep them as private and secure as face-to-face conversations.”
In a follow-up tweet by Matt Navarra, he also revealed that the main new features we can expect are how users will be able to leave groups silently and that only admins will be notified. Users will also be able to choose who can see when they’re online, and last but not least, they will be introducing a feature that will block users from taking screenshots for messages that have been set to be viewed only once.

The last feature is a bit odd because it seemed obvious so we’re not sure why WhatsApp took this long to introduce it, but we suppose better late than never. As for the other features, we’ve actually heard about them before but Zuckerberg’s announcement pretty much confirms it.
