WhatsApp is working on a chatbot that will let users know what’s new

Usually app stores like the iOS App Store and Google Play Store are great at automatically updating your apps. More often than not, users can also find changelogs detailing what kind of changes, fixes, or improvements developers made. But let’s be honest, how many of us check the changelog?

Combine that with automatic updates, most of us probably won’t know when an app is updated until much later or if there is an issue. To address that issue, it seems that WhatsApp is working on introducing a chatbot to its platform. This is according to a report from WABetaInfo who discovered the upcoming change.

Right now, it’s too early to tell what exactly the chatbot will do, but based on the screenshot, it seems that WhatsApp plans to use it as a way of delivering information to users on new features, provide tips and tricks, and more. It’s actually kind of clever because how are users going to adopt new features if they don’t know about it, right?

That being said, we can imagine that it might be annoying to get messages from a chatbot, so hopefully there’s a way to disable it (short of muting it). Either way, we’ll probably find out more when the feature launches, which is anyone’s guess right now.
