OnePlus 9RT Announcement 4

OnePlus 9RT finally gets Android 12 update

The OnePlus 9RT was originally announced back in 2021, which is also when Android 12 was released by Google. Unfortunately, it seems that the handset was not launched with Android 12 in tow, and now a little less than a year later, owners of the phone are finally able to get their hands on the update.

OnePlus has been testing the Android 12 update for the phone for a while now, and it looks like the stable release of OxygenOS 12, based on Google’s Android 12 update, is available for the rest of OnePlus 9RT users who did not participate in the beta, whether they couldn’t or did not want to.

Generally speaking betas don’t always make the best daily drivers, so it is understandable that some users might choose not to take part in it. Either way, the good news is that the update is here and according to the reports, it weighs in at a very hefty 5GB. If you’re trying to install it, it’s probably best to wait until you get home and have a stable internet connection and have access to a charger, lest your phone runs out of juice mid-update which will cause all kinds of problems.

The update will bring about the new features that Google introduced with Android 12, as well as various tweaks and improvements in OxygenOS. The update is also expected to bump the Android security patch level to July 2022. The update should already be live so keep an eye out for it on your phone.
