Last month during Google I/O 2022, the company confirmed that they will be launching the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro later this year. This essentially confirms that there could be at least two Pixel handsets in the works, but now it looks like there may be a third, potentially higher-end Pixel 7 as well.
This is according to a tweet by developer Kuba Wojciechowski who had previously shared some of the camera details of the upcoming Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. According to the developer, hidden within the code there is mention of another handset codenamed Lynx L10. This model is said to sport the GN1 sensor as the main shooter, but will also apparently feature the Sony IMX787 as a secondary camera.
Another device in the code is Lynx – L10 – an alleged third high-end 2022 Pixel:
The main shooter is the familiar GN1, however that's where that ends. A secondary lens is a Sony IMX787 of unknown purpose, probably tele. This is a first for Google – they usually use older sensors.— Kuba Wojciechowski⚡ (@Za_Raczke) July 25, 2022
Given that this configuration is different from the other camera details they had previously shared, this has led to speculation that maybe a Pixel 7 Ultra model could also be in the works. It’s a bit odd that Google wouldn’t mention this phone when they so readily confirmed the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, unless there’s more to this handset and Google didn’t want to spoil the surprise.
Take note that there have been rumors about a foldable Pixel which is codenamed P7 or “Passport”, so it is obvious that this handset isn’t it. It is also possible that Google could be trying to fight back against leaks by planting false information, so until it’s official, it’s probably best to take it with a grain of salt.
