Qualcomm Snapdragon Blank Chip

Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be announced this November

Earlier in June, a leaked schedule seemed to suggest that Qualcomm would be hosting its annual Snapdragon Summit in November. The event was quickly pulled, but it looks like the leak was right because on Qualcomm’s website, the company has confirmed the dates for the upcoming event.

The 2022 Snapdragon Summit will be held from the 15-17th of November in Hawaii. While it is unclear what the company will be announcing, there is a very, very good chance that this is when the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset will be announced.

Qualcomm typically announces its next-gen chipsets a few months before the new year. This is done to give customers an idea of what they might be able to expect, as well as give handset manufacturers time to purchase the chipsets to use in their phones, so an announcement in November actually makes a lot of sense.

According to the rumors, it is expected to be built on the 4nm process which is a similar process that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 was built on, but there will be some changes to the CPU islands. Instead of a configuration of 1+3+4 found in the current models, it will be changed to 1+2+2+3 which consists of a Cortex-X3 core, a pair of A720s, a pair of A710s, and three A510s.

We’ll probably have to wait for the official reveal to better understand what kind of performance and energy improvements we’re looking at, so check back with us in November for the details.
