Instagram’s Explore section is great for discovering new posts, but what if you wanted to discover new places? That’s something that Instagram is introducing with a new searchable maps feature which allows users to better interact with maps, filter out locations, and so on.
This new change was announced by Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg in an Instagram Stories post where with this change, users will now be able to explore locations that are tagged and filter them based on categories such as restaurants, cafes, and so on.
Prior to this, if you’ve ever used Instagram, you could either search for locations that you already know, or if someone tagged a location in a post, you could tap on the location and see other posts made in the same location. This wasn’t as useful at discovering new places, but with this update, it should make it easier for users to find new places to eat at, visit, and more.
Users will also be able to save specific locations so that they can visit (or revisit) it in the future, share it via DMs to your friends or group chats, and there will even be tags and stickers that you can use in your Instagram Stories for your followers to view. These changes should already be rolling out as we speak, so keep an eye out for it if you think that this could be something you might find useful.
