Remember the good old days when Google Photos used to allow users unlimited photo backup if they opted for a slightly lower quality backup? Those were the times, and we’re sure that many of you have taken advantage of that feature.
Now if you’ve started to become more selective with your photo backups to Google Photos or have opted to purchase additional storage to store the original photo resolutions, your backup might now consist of photos of mixed quality. Thankfully, Google is now allowing users to sort your images by quality.
This is according to a report from 9to5Google where Google Photos on the web will now let users see what photo quality the file was uploaded as. There is “original quality” which is the photo in its original resolution taken by your camera, or “storage saver” which is a slightly lower quality file that takes up less space in your account.
It will also be able to show users whether or not a photo is actually taking up space in your account. This is a remnant from Google Photos in the past where users could upload unlimited “High Quality” photos which wouldn’t count towards storage space.
This change doesn’t appear to be widely available yet so if you don’t see it yet, don’t worry as it should eventually make its way to you.
