Motorola Edge 30 Ultra 200MP camera sample makes its way online

It was previously reported that Motorola is working on a new smartphone that could be the first smartphone to take advantage of Samsung’s 200MP ISOCELL HP1 sensor. That phone in question will be the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra, and if you’re wondering what a photo taken with a 200MP sensor looks like, you’re in luck.

This is because according to a post on Weibo by General Manager of Motorola China, Chen Jin, he has shared a photo taken by the camera in question. Now, we should point out that you shouldn’t get too excited just yet. For starters, megapixels don’t mean everything and more megapixels doesn’t mean better photos.

There are other factors to consider like sensor size, the lens aperture, lighting conditions, and so on. Another thing is that usually when photos are uploaded to social media platforms, they get compressed, and in turn it loses some of its details, so while the photo looks decent, we wouldn’t necessarily call it a true representation of the camera’s capabilities.

Jin also noted that the photo uses a 4-in-1 pixel binning process, which he claims is better than the 9-in-1 pixel binning used in other devices that uses a 108MP sensor. In any case, there are plenty of other reasons to get excited for the phone apart from its camera.

From what we’ve heard, the phone will feature a 6.73-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, and under the hood, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset can be found accompanied by 12GB of RAM, making it quite a powerhouse of a device. The phone is expected to be announced later this month, so check back with us soon for more updates.
