Samsung announces One UI Watch 4.5 update for its smartwatches

Good hardware is useless if the software accompanying it is terrible, which is why many companies focus a lot on software development for the platform that powers their hardware. In the case of Samsung, the company has announced the One UI Watch 4.5 update that will soon be making its way to compatible smartwatches.

So, what can users expect from this update? According to Samsung, one of the key features of the update is the ability to support a full QWERTY keyboard on the screen. This means that users will soon be able to type like they would on their smartphone, and there is also support for Swipe to Type, dictation, and handwriting in case tapping away at your watch’s tiny screen is too inconvenient.

We’re not sure how well this will work out because like we said, our smartwatches have such small screens, but we suppose at the very least, Samsung is giving users options. In addition to a full QWERTY keyboard, the update will also introduce visual and auditory assistance where the smartwatch’s display can have its hue and contrast adjusted to make it easier for people to see, along with sound output adjustments directly from the watch itself.

There will also be more customization options when it comes to the watch face, and there will also be dual SIM support where Galaxy smartphone owners can choose a preferred SIM card on their phone and then change it via their smartwatch.

Like we said, this update won’t be available for all of Samsung’s smartwatches. According to the company, it will only be available for the Galaxy Watch4, Galaxy Watch4 Classic, and future models.
