A few years ago, OnePlus started getting back to its budget roots by launching the OnePlus Nord series of phones. Ultimately, it is still under the OnePlus banner, but the Nord branding indicates that it’s a different series of phones from the company’s usual releases.
So much so that in the future, OnePlus could actually be thinking of spinning the Nord brand out from them and into its own thing. This is according to a report from The Mobile Indian who cites industry sources who claim that OnePlus is looking into the possibility of its Nord devices being its own brand.
While OnePlus hasn’t confirmed anything yet, this isn’t that ludicrous of an idea. There have been other companies, such as Huawei and Xiaomi who have created other brands/companies that produce their own phones. It would also be useful at giving the Nord series of devices its own community and following and presence without the rest of OnePlus’ lineup looming over them. Whether or not this will happen remains to be seen, so take this with a grain of salt.
