Snapchat+ premium subscription launched at $3.99 per month

Earlier this month, Snap confirmed that they were working on a subscription service for Snapchat. It looks like that subscription service is official and will be known as Snapchat+ where it will be priced at $3.99 a month. It will be completely optional for users if they want to subscribe or not.

Users who opt not to subscribe can continue to use Snapchat as per usual, but subscribing will unlock several additional perks. The company does not mention what exactly users will be getting for their subscription, but according to Snap:

“Today we’re starting to roll out Snapchat+, a collection of exclusive, experimental, and pre-release features available in Snapchat for $3.99/month.  This subscription will allow us to deliver new Snapchat features to some of the most passionate members of our community and allow us to provide prioritized support.”

We had previously heard that some of the features of Snapchat+ include being able to pin a friend as your “#1 BFF”, access exclusive icons, displaying a badge on your profile, see how many friends have rewatched your story, and see a friend’s whereabouts in the last 24 hours.

Also, the service will only be available in several countries at the start. This includes the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Snap says that they do plan to expand to cover more regions in the future, but when exactly that happens remains to be seen.
