A More Affordable Galaxy S21 FE Variant Might be in the Works

0

Following reports that Samsung might cancel the production and launch of the Samsung Galaxy S22 FE, new rumors online indicate that the South Korean tech giant might instead launch a more affordable variant of the Galaxy S21 FE, which itself is already a slightly more affordable version of the standard Galaxy S21.

An article from Dutch website Galaxy Club notes that a new device was spotted with a model number of SM-G990B2, and the report confirms that Samsung is developing firmware for the new device. Additionally, the phone is mentioned in a couple of Scandinavian online shops, with stock expected to arrive around the end of June. While no formal word has been made by Samsung about the device, a listing on the company’s German website displays the device’s model number.

The 2022 version of the Galaxy S21 FE will also come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 720G processor, which means it will be limited to 4G connectivity. The more expensive variant of the device is powered by the Snapdragon 888 5G chipset, a high-end SoC which was used in several flagship phones from the past year. It’s expected that the new variant will soon be available in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Samsung’s Galaxy FE phones (short for ‘Fan Edition’) are essentially slightly more affordable variants of its standard flagship devices, include phones like the S20 FE and the current S21 FE.
