If you have a Chromecast or a TV that supports Chromecast, you can easily cast a video from the YouTube app on your phone onto your TV. But now it seems that Google is taking things one step further where you can watch a YouTube video on your phone and send it to your TV at the same time.
Why would you want to do that? According to a blog post by YouTube:
“Now your phone will be synchronized to the TV, so you can directly interact with the video you are watching from the convenience of your phone. That means it’s easier than ever to read video descriptions, leave comments, share the video with a friend, or support your favorite creators by sending a Super Chat or becoming a member, all while you watch on the big screen.”
This reminds us of consoles like the Nintendo DS where the upper portion of the display is where the main action happens, but you can still perform controls in the lower part of the console. It’s actually a pretty nifty feature to have and might be worth checking out once the update becomes available to you.
