Sony Leaks: The Xperia 1 IV Might Ditch the Charger

0

Smartphone trends tend to spread like wildfire – camera notches, disappearing headphone jacks, and non-existent microSD card slots have all made their mark on a lot of modern handsets, and the list has now grown to include the omission of charging bricks in smartphone packaging. With that said, new reports indicate that Sony could be joining this club soon when it launches its new phone.

On the bright side though, the upcoming Sony handset – currently dubbed the Xperia 1 IV – will get a camera upgrade over its predecessor in the form of a 12-megapixel front-facing camera. By comparison, last year’s Xperia 1 III came with an 8-megapixel front shooter.

It’s also rumored that the Xperia 1 IV might come in 256 and 512GB storage versions once it launches. When converted, the estimated prices come in at $1,415 for the 256GB model, and $1,572 for the 512GB variant. Some are skeptical of the alleged prices, however, although it’s worth mentioning that the phones will nevertheless come with higher prices due to hardware improvements.

With that said, Sony is expected to reveal its new phone via an online presentation on May 11. A social media post from the brand’s Instagram page has shared a photo announcing an upcoming event, and while no specific details were given, the post states “New Product Announcement,” which most likely points to a new handset which could be the Xperia 1 IV.
