Poco M4 5G officially launched with a $170 price tag

Back in 2021, Poco announced the Poco M4 Pro 5G. For the most part, it is a great value for money handset if you’re not looking for anything out of the ordinary and if you’re shopping on a budget. But if you’re looking for an even cheaper smartphone, maybe to use as a backup or secondary device, Poco’s got you covered.

The company has announced the Poco M4 5G. This is part of the M4 series but as you might have noticed, the lack of the “Pro” in its name indicates that this will be a lower-specced version of the M4 Pro 5G, but we reckon that with its price and hardware, it’s still a decent value for money purchase.

Under the hood, the Poco M4 5G is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 700 chipset. It will feature a 6.58-inch Full HD+ LCD with 90Hz refresh rate. This is an adaptive refresh rate and can switch between 30Hz, 60Hz, and 90Hz, depending on what’s needed at the moment.

Also what’s interesting is that the phone only comes with a dual camera setup consisting of a 50MP primary camera and a 2MP depth sensor. This is versus other budget phones that manage to fit at least 3 cameras, but perhaps this is how Poco is keeping the price down. The phone will also feature a 5,000mAh battery, IP52 rating, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The phone will be initially launching in India on the 5th of May where it is priced starting at $170, although it is unclear at this point in time if there are plans to bring it to other markets.
