Sony Teases Upcoming Xperia Event
Sony Xperia fans might be in for a treat really soon. A new post from the brand’s official Instagram page has shared a photo announcing an upcoming event, which is scheduled for May 11th. No specific details were given, although the post states “New Product Announcement,” which might mean that we’re going to see a new handset soon.
Sony are tightly keeping the wraps on this one, so fans will have to tune in at 9:00 CEST and 16:00 Japan time on the aforementioned date, for an exclusive first look of the new product via the official Sony Xperia YouTube channel.
Many are speculating that this might be the upcoming Xperia 1 IV, the rumored successor to last year’s Xperia 1 III. Not much is known about the device, but there have been a few leaks circulating online which show off supposed product renders of the handset. It’s also speculated that the device might launch initially in China, with a global release to follow soon.
Additionally, there’s also been talks that the new Sony flagship might come with a rather expensive price tag. If true, then this keeps in line with Sony’s usual pricing strategy for its Android phones, which are usually on the more “premium” end of the price spectrum. Nevertheless, we’ll have to wait and see what the company has in store on May 11.
