Nokia’s revival under Finnish company HMD Global has certainly been an interesting one. Once known for Windows Phone handsets and the Lumia device series, the brand has now solely focused on developing and selling mid-range and budget phones, and its latest device solidifies its new role even further.
An online listing features images and specs of the Nokia C200, a budget phone sold as a Tracfone prepaid device in the US. The device comes with your usual array of entry-level hardware specs, such as a 6.1-inch LCD display with HD+ resolution, a single 13-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel notch camera, and 32GB of internal storage. Unfortunately, the processor, RAM, and battery specifications were not mentioned in the listing, and the site merely indicates “two-day battery” in the specs list.
More interestingly, the C200 comes pre-installed with Android 12, features USB Type-C charging, face unlock, and even comes with IP52 rating, which are features not usually seen on low-end handsets. Currently, Tracfone is selling the handset for $79.99 prepaid.
Nokia has mostly shifted its focus in producing more affordable handsets in recent years, with a focus on equipping its current phones with mid-range specs such as Qualcomm’s 4-series chipsets, polycarbonate designs, and sub-500 dollar pricing (with the exception of their XR20 rugged phone). The company’s last “premium” device was the Nokia 9 Pureview, which was met with mixed reviews.
