Samsung goes green with Samsung Galaxy x Sean Wotherspoon Sustainable Accessories Collection

If you think about how many smartphones are produced every year and the various types of materials that are used, including rare earth metals, you might be wondering how sustainable can this industry be, especially for the long term?

Thankfully, companies are taking steps to try and reduce their carbon footprint, whether it be using recycled materials for their phones and its packaging, or in Samsung’s case, they’re taking it one step further by teaming up with eco-conscious designer Sean Wotherspoon for a series of sustainable smartphone accessories.

This is actually not the first time Samsung has gone green in their collaborations. The company had previously partnered with Sami Miró back in 2021, so this is clearly not the company’s first rodeo.

The new partnership with Wotherspoon will include smartphone cases and smartwatch straps that are made from sustainably sourced materials that are also biodegradable. The watch straps are designed with the Galaxy Watch 4 in mind, while the phone cases are designed for the Galaxy S21, which is a bit of a pity since the Galaxy S22 is already out.

According to Wotherspoon:

“From the start, it was clear that we were aligned on our commitment to sustainability and finding real eco-conscious solutions people can use in their everyday lives. It’s what drew me to this opportunity. The collection is a simple, yet powerful way for people to show their support of the planet timed to Earth Day.”

These designs clearly have Wotherspoon’s touch and are bright, funky, and very eye-catching. The Samsung Galaxy x Sean Wotherspoon Sustainable Accessories Collection will be launching on the 22nd of April, 2022 in conjunction with Earth Day, and all accessories will be priced at $49.99. There will also be free watchfaces that can be downloaded via the Google Play Store.
