Weird and annoying Pixel bug randomly changes your ringtone and alarm sounds
By now, everyone should be more or less familiar with Apple’s iPhone ringtone which has been used in many movies and TV shows to denote that a call or message is coming in. We all have our own preferences when it comes to ringtones for calls and alarms, and over the years, many of us have gotten accustomed to it.
Unfortunately, it seems that a recent bug affecting Google’s Pixel devices are throwing users for a loop. This is according to a post on Reddit in which users are reporting that their phones are now playing randomly selected ringtones instead of the ones that they have chosen themselves.
9to5Google have confirmed this to be an issue on their Pixel 6 which is running Android 12 QPR3 Beta 1.1. It is unclear what could be causing the issue, but it is speculated that it might have something to do with the April security patch released last week. Thankfully, it doesn’t seem to be a widespread issue, at least not to our knowledge.
Users who want to see if their devices are affected should probably go to their Settings and double-check that their ringtone settings are correct. We’re also not sure if changing it back after it was affected by the bug will see it randomly changed again later on, but it’s something users should keep an eye out for if they’re hearing weird ringtones coming from their phones.
