Samsung is pretty much the undisputed king of the foldables space right now, but it seems that the company’s competitors aren’t just going to sit around and let them steal all the market share. According to a post from Digital Chat Station on Weibo, it seems that Vivo has a new foldable phone in the works.
The report claims that the handset in question will be known as the Vivo X Fold and based on the leaked renders, it looks pretty similar in concept to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series where it’s a phone-slash-tablet hybrid.
According to the leak, some of the specs we can look forward to include an 8-inch LTPO QHD+ OLED display with an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, 66W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and it will most likely end up being powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset.
The cameras on the phone are reportedly no slouch either. Vivo is expected to equip the phone with a primar 50MP 1/1.5-inch sensor, a 48MP ultrawide camera, a 12MP 2x telephoto lens, and an 8MP 5x periscope camera. Also, based on the renders, it seems that Vivo could be looking to bring the faux leather trend back.
The phone has been rumored to launch on the 11th of April in China and we’re not sure if there are plans for international markets, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
