OnePlus has certainly gone through a lot of changes over the past few years. We’ve seen the introduction of the “Nord” series which gave long-time fans and potential newcomers more affordable mid-range smartphones, and the company has also introduced a new line of wearable tech in the form of the OnePlus Watch. With that said, it seems that OnePlus is looking to release a follow-up to the latter this year.
Leaks and speculation have pointed to the possibility of OnePlus releasing a new watch alongside its upcoming Nord 3 smartphone this year. Currently dubbed the “OnePlus Nord Smartwatch,” the new device will supposedly fall under OnePlus’ Nord line of devices, which the company has built up with several releases including the original OnePlus Nord, Nord 2, Nord CE, and the yet-to-be-announced Nord 3. The source says that the Nord Smartwatch will be priced less than 10,000 RS ($130), although no actual pricing was listed. It is also unknown at the moment if the device will be released outside Indian markets, given the reception to the first-generation OnePlus Watch.
The OnePlus Watch was originally launched back in April 2021 and offered features like heart rate and SPO2 monitoring, notification and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as other health-tracking features. It also ran on OnePlus’ own custom OS instead of Google’s WearOS platform, which most manufacturers usually opt for. However, the device received less than stellar reviews, especially when compared to devices from more established players in the wearable market like Apple, Samsung, and Fitbit.
As of this time, there’s still no official word from OnePlus about the new watch, although the company continues to sell the original OnePlus watch on their website and other retailers. There have also been reports that OnePlus could release a pair of wireless earbuds this year, to coincide with the launch of their new devices.
