It’s been a little while since we’ve heard anything about the Pixel Watch, but we might not have to wait much longer. According to Max Weinbach with Android Police, the Pixel Watch has started appearing “in a US carrier’s back-end inventory system.”
Usually, devices only begin appearing when the launch is scheduled, suggesting that Google could finally launch its first smartwatch alongside the Pixel 6a. According to Weinbach, the Pixel Watch will be available in three different colors (gray, black, and gold) while offering 32GB of onboard storage.
In the same leak, Weinbach revealed that the Pixel 6a has started appearing in “a carrier database” using the codename of “bluejay”. The phone will also arrive in three different colors and will offer at least one configuration with 128GB of storage. It’s unknown whether this will be the only storage option available, or if Google is planning something else.
The last rumor that we heard regarding the Pixel 6a suggested that Google could launch its budget-friendly device sometime in May. This would line up with Google I/O, which has not yet officially been scheduled. This, paired with Jon Prosser’s report that the Pixel Watch would also arrive in May, means that we are only a couple of months away from one of the most highly-anticipated devices of the year (and decade).
According to previous leaks, the Pixel 6a will retain the same design as the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, complete with the camera bar on the back of the phone. It is said to use Sony’s IMX363 camera sensor for its main camera, which is the same camera that was found on every Pixel phone between the Pixel 3 and Pixel 5a. Here are some of the other leaked specs that were revealed late last year:
What remains a mystery is just how cheap the Pixel 6a will be. Google’s Pixel 6 is already pretty affordable as it is, coming in at $599 without any carrier promotions or other deals. A price of about $399 would make the most sense, but it also wouldn’t come as a shock if Google went down to $349 for the Pixel 6a.
