Over the last few years, one smartphone brand continues to make waves, as Realme has seen massive gains in the market. The company primarily focuses on budget-friendly devices, with a few more-powerful options sprinkled in. But that’s all about to change as the Realme GT2 and GT2 Pro have just been announced at MWC 2022.
Kicking things off, the Realme GT2 is going to appeal to those who want flagship power without the exorbitant price tag. This is possible due to the use of the Snapdragon 888 chipset paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage.
The display measures in at 6.7-inches, and uses Samsung’s E4 AMOLED panel. This means that you’ll still enjoy things like a 120Hz refresh rate, and video quality this is still pretty stunning.
Realme is also implementing some impressive camera hardware and features. The GT2 offers a triple camera array, headlined by Sony’s IMX766 main camera, complete with OIS and EIS. This is paired with an ultra-wide lens sporting a 119-degree Field of View, along with a 4cm macro camera.
In terms of battery life, you should have no problems getting through an entire day with ease, thanks to the 5,000mAh cell. Realme is also bringing its 65W SuperDart Charge technology, for those times when you need a lot of juice and don’t have much time.
Moving over to the star of the show, the Realme GT2 Pro is the true flagship we’ve all been wanting. It features a 6.7-inch AMOLED display but is one of the first phones to be available with a 2K resolution and LTPO 2.0 technology. This brings an Adaptive Refresh Rate that automatically switches between 1Hz and 120Hz to help provide better battery life.
As expected with a 2022 flagship, powering the GT2 Pro is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. In the top left corner, Realme is featuring a 16MP selfie camera.
Moving to the back of the phone, it’s a bit more of the flagship fun thanks to the dual 50MP sensors along with a 40x micro-lens. While the inclusion of the 50MP Sony IMX766 is impressive enough, the GT2 Pro is also the world’s first phone to be released using the ISOCELL JN1 ultra-wide lens. Not only does the sensor feature a 150-degree Field of View, but it’s also the world’s first fish-eye lens to be shipped in a phone.
There’s no doubt that Realme is looking to continue to make a push in global markets. Now, we just have to hope that the company eventually starts pushing into the U.S. market.
We’ll be sure to update this article with pricing and availability information once it’s made available.
