If you happen to own the OnePlus 8 or if you have it lying around in a drawer somewhere, it’s time to dust it off because OnePlus has announced that they have launched the open beta for Android 12 for the phone. This will cover all phones in the lineup which includes the OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, and the OnePlus 8T.
Keep in mind that based on the announcement, it seems that this open beta are for OnePlus 8 devices from India and the global variant, so make sure your device is compatible if you wish to take part in it.
The open beta will pretty much bring users what they’ve come to expect from the Android 12 update, along with various tweaks and improvements that OnePlus has added to the software. The full changelog can be found on the OnePlus forums and they are pretty extensive, so it might be worth taking a look at if you’re curious.
Since this is a beta, OnePlus does caution that it might not be as stable as the official OTA update, plus users could also run into issues with some apps that might not have been updated or optimized for Android 12. This means that if you plan to take part in the beta, it might not be the best idea to use this beta as your daily driver unless you happen to have a spare phone in case something goes wrong.
OnePlus does not state when they expect the final build to be released, but the open beta does give us some hope that it shouldn’t be too far behind.
