It’s been almost a year since the Black Shark 4 and 4 Pro made their debut in China, as Xiaomi’s gaming sub-brand introduced a compelling gaming phone to take on the likes of ASUS’ ROG Phone 5 and Nubia’s Red Magic. But that hasn’t stopped the company from moving forward with its plans to bring the Black Shark 4 Pro to more markets as you can now get your hands on one without needing to have it imported.
The Black Shark 4 Pro sports a 6.67-inch AMOLED display complete with a 144Hz refresh rate and a 720Hz touch sampling rate. Powering this beast is the Snapdragon 888, paired with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. Xiaomi also went so far as to implement a new (for last year) dual-layer liquid cooling system that will be able to lower the CPU temperatures down to just 18°C (64.4°F).
For the gamers out there, you’ll be able to enjoy some of the added features that the Black Shark 4 Pro has to offer. There are new “mechanical should buttons” which provide more control while playing your favorite mobile games. These can also be programmed to act as shortcut buttons while you’re not gaming, so you can quickly open the camera app or take a screenshot.
Battery life is a key concern when it comes to these gaming phones, and Xiaomi’s gaming sector thought of that. While the 4,500mAh cell may not seem like much, the somewhat lower battery size is compensated with the 120W fast charging. This means you’ll be able to go from 0-100% in just 15 minutes with the Black Shark 4 Pro.
As for cameras, there’s a rather basic 20MP selfie shooter on the front, hidden in a hole-punch cutout. On the back, you’ll find a triple camera array headlined by a 64MP wide-angle lens, along with an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 5MP macro sensor. Other features of the Black Shark 4 Pro include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and even Dual-SIM card support.
If you’re interested in picking up the Black Shark 4 Pro for yourself, you can finally do so directly from the Black Shark website. Pricing for the 8GB / 128GB model comes in at $579 while the 12GB and 256GB configuration will set you back $679.
