Gone are the days when OnePlus only focused on releasing smartphones that “Never Settle”. Over the past few years, we’ve seen the company pivot into offering more accessories, including different types of headphones. While the OnePlus Buds Pro are pretty spectacular in their own right, it seems that OnePlus is gearing up to capitalize on the brand loyalty it’s built surrounding the Nord lineup of devices.
In a series of CAD leaks provided by @OnLeaks and 91mobiles, OnePlus is working on a new set of Nord-branded truly-wireless earbuds. According to the renders, it appears that OnePlus is looking to change up the design of its earbuds, offering shorter stems and a matte black finish complete with a gold button at the top of the stem.
OnLeaks and 91mobiles claim that these earbuds will not only be affordably priced, but could offer other features including Active Noise Cancellation and a dedicated low-latency mode for gaming. Unfortunately, not much else is known about the OnePlus Nord Buds, aside from the charging case that looks like something you would see from Sony, and we don’t know if it will offer wireless charging or will stick to USB-C charging.
Considering that the OnePlus Nord brand focuses more on the “core” of what OnePlus used to be, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if these new earbuds came in around the $99 mark. It would take on Carl Pei’s Nothing Ear 1 buds directly while appealing to the OnePlus fans who are looking for a new set of earbuds to pair with their phones. 2022 is already shaping up to be quite a busy year for OnePlus, as we’ve already seen the OnePlus 10 Pro launched in China, along with the Nord CE 2, and rumors point to a couple of more OnePlus devices set to launch in the coming months.
