Last week, Nubia introduced the Red Magic 7 series in China, marking the company’s latest gaming-centric smartphone. The company already confirmed that multiple versions of the phone would be made available, but starting today, you can get your hands on at least the “regular” Red Magic 7.
As a refresh, the Red Magic 7 features a 6.8-inch AMOLED FHD+ display equipped with a 165Hz refresh rate and a touch sampling rate of 720Hz. Powering the phone is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset along with 12GB, 16GB, or 18GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
Battery life is admirable with a 4,500mAh cell but Nubia includes a 65W fast charger in the box, something else that gives it an edge over many of the other flagship phones on the market. The camera system isn’t much to write home about, but you will get a triple camera setup on the back, headlined by a 64MP wide-angle lens. This is accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro sensor.
One of the most unique aspects to consider when looking at the Red Magic 7 is the new multi-layer cooling system that is comprised of seven different layers. This has been redesigned to provide up to 35% better cooling and 400x faster heat dissipation, which is something that you’ll definitely need if you’re playing mobile games for long periods of time.
Last but not least, another defining feature of the Red Magic 7 is the dual shoulder trigger buttons that are found on the frame. These feature an anti-sweat coating and offer a response rate of just 7.4ms. Plus, you can use the built-in app to customize the gestures so that they will work with pretty much any game you want to play on the go without needing to connect a controller.
Starting on March 10, you’ll be able to order the Red Magic 7 directly from Nubia’s website. The base model is priced at $629 featuring a 12GB/128GB configuration, but you can max out the phone with 18GB of RAM and 256GB of storage for a cool $799.
