No matter what your opinion is when it comes to Samsung phones, it’s tough to deny the fact that the company continues to push the limits when it comes to mobile photography. For many, just pointing your phone at a subject and snapping the picture will result in some pretty great shots. But thanks to the introduction of the Expert RAW app on the Galaxy Store, the S22 series will be able to take things up a notch.
Expert RAW first debuted on the Galaxy Store late last year, providing more granular controls over different aspects of your images, much like using a DSLR camera. Samsung officially announced the app alongside the Galaxy Unpacked event where the Galaxy S22 series was introduced. Naturally, one of the first questions that many of us had was whether Expert RAW would make its way to other Galaxy devices.
Thankfully, the answer to that question is a resounding yes, and courtesy of a post on the Samsung Community Forum (via XDA Developers), we now have a better idea as to when it will land. Here’s the expected schedule according to Samsung:
It makes perfect sense for Samsung to bring this excellent photography app to the likes of the Galaxy S21 Ultra and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. What is a bit more surprising is to see both the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 2 on the list. Despite the phone’s retail price, the truth is that the camera hardware just doesn’t really match up with the rest of Samsung’s flagship lineup of devices. Both foldable are essentially using the same triple 12MP camera array, using sensors that first debuted back around the time of the Galaxy S10. Nevertheless, as a proud Galaxy Z Fold 3 owner, it will be exciting to get my hands on the Expert RAW app once it is made available.
