New leak seems to confirm early February announcement for the Galaxy S22 lineup

0

Just last week, Samsung got the hype train rolling as it confirmed that its next Galaxy S flagship would be unveiled in February. Presumably, this will be the Galaxy S22 series of devices, with the Galaxy S22 Ultra being turned into a Galaxy Note successor of sorts. Unfortunately, Samsung stopped short of providing any specifics in terms of an announcement or release date, but thanks to Evan Blass (@evleaks), we now know when that will be.

On his private Twitter account, Blass shared a previously-unseen invitation for the next Galaxy Unpacked event. This invitation shows a date of February 9, 2022, at 15:00 UTC (or 10:00 AM ET). There are no special clues that can be drawn from this invitation, as it is titled “The Epic Standard” and shows an S inside of a transparent box. If anything the only indication of something new coming is the font used for the title of the event, as it looks as though it was hand-written. Of course, this would line up with the previous reports and leaks suggesting Samsung will be debuting the Galaxy S22 Ultra with a built-in S Pen, just like a Galaxy Note.

This latest leak lines up pretty well with the previous rumors that we have heard in regards to an upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. We’ve seen either February 8 or 9 mentioned quite frequently, but it seems as though it will, in fact, be on February 9.

We’ll continue waiting for Samsung’s official invitation to arrive, as this will be the latest and most important smartphone launch this far into 2022. Until now, we’ve seen the Galaxy S21 FE and OnePlus 10 Pro, but outside of that, we’ve just been enjoying the rumor mill for what’s upcoming in the Android world. Samsung is expected to debut a new lineup of tablets alongside the Galaxy S22 series with the Galaxy Tab 8 lineup.
