Google working on a Digital Wellbeing widget for Android

We all probably know that spending too much time on our smartphones is not good for our health, both physical and mental, which is why in the recent years, companies have started to introduce features to help users gain more insight into how much time they spend on their phones, apps they use, and so on.

The idea is that by making users aware of what they’re spending their time on, it might make them realize they could be spending too much time on a certain and will cut back on it. In Android’s case, the feature is called Digital Wellbeing. The feature is kind of hidden in the Android Settings menu, but Google wants to bring it to the forefront.

According to an APK teardown by 9to5Google, they have discovered signs to suggest that Google is working on creating a widget for Android homescreens that will let users place Digital Wellbeing data front and center. This means that at a glance, users will be able to see information like time spent on their phones, which apps they’ve spent the most time on, and so on.

It is actually quite a useful idea but we have no idea when the feature will be rolled out, but presumably as it is in the latest APK, it should be sooner rather than later.
