Third-gen Motorola Razr could be the flagship foldable we’ve been waiting for

When Motorola first revived the Razr smartphone and gave it a foldable display, the company made an odd choice to equip it with a mid-range chipset. Given the price of the phone, it didn’t really feel like it was good value for money, even though the nostalgia factor was very high.

The good news is that the third time’s the charm. According to a report from XDA Developers, their source has informed them that for the third-gen Razr smartphone, Motorola could be going all out. We’re talking about hardware like the use of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, a 120Hz display, and as much as 12GB of RAM.

There are also other rumored features like support for UWB, which XDA speculates could be used to help with more accurate positioning and potentially even unlocking cars. We’re not sure why the company has decided to go with a new strategy over their previous one, but it is possible that the success that Samsung has been seeing with the Galaxy Z Flip 3 could have inspired the company to try and do better.

The report also goes on to suggest that with the third-gen model, Motorola could be planning on giving it a global launch, allowing customers in other markets purchase the phone for the first time. There is no set launch date yet, but given that the previous model is more than a year old, hopefully Motorola should have something official to announce soon.
