After giving everyone a bunch of trickled information during the week of CES 2022, OnePlus has officially launched the OnePlus 10 Pro in China. The phone is available for pre-order starting today, before officially going on sale on January 13.
As expected, the 10 Pro is OnePlus’ 2022 flagship (for the time being), and has the specs to back it up. Powering the phone is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. OnePlus also packed a 5,000mAh battery into its latest device, complete with 80W fast wired charging and 50W wireless charging speeds.
The phone is seeing a bit of a redesign this year, namely when it comes to the rear camera hump. OnePlus seems to be taking a page out of Samsung’s book here, as the camera module blends into the frame of the phone, without making the module too large.
As for the camera system, the OnePlus 10 Pro features a 50MP wide-angle lens, a 48MP ultra-wide camera, and an 8MP telephoto sensor. The Hasselblad and OnePlus partnership enters its second year, and with it, the companies are bringing the “Hasselblad 2.0” experience. This means an updated camera app, along with better image processing for all three cameras.
Surprisingly, the OnePlus 10 Pro in China is running ColorOS 12, based on Android 12. This is only a surprise because we expected to see ColorOS arrive on OnePlus devices outside of China, but it seems that the company will stick to OxygenOS for the global version. It’s unclear whether this has something to do with the update debacle for the OnePlus 9 series, or if it’s literally just a naming convention change.
Speaking of global availability, OnePlus still has yet to share when the OnePlus 10 Pro will arrive in other regions. We don’t expect there to be too long of a wait, but there’s really no way to gauge that until OnePlus provides an official timeline. With the Galaxy S22 looming around the corner, we expect OnePlus to announce something sooner rather than later.
