How to add wireless charging to the Poco M4 Pro

About a month ago, Poco officially launched the Poco M4 Pro 5G. This is the successor to the Poco M3 Pro 5G that was launched earlier this year. For the most part, it shares a lot of similar features to the M3 Pro 5G, with the main exception being the camera in which the M4 Pro 5G features a bit of an upgrade over its predecessor.

For those who might have been hoping that the M4 Pro 5G could come with wireless charging, unfortunately that was not the case. We suppose in a bid to keep costs down, the company elected not to include the feature, but don’t worry because if wireless charging is an absolute must-have feature, there are ways to get around it.

What you will need

Before we start, we should point out that in order to give the M4 Pro 5G wireless charging capabilities, there are a couple of additional accessories you will need, and this includes:

Wireless charging adapter

As the phone does not come with wireless charging tech, a wireless charging adapter essentially retrofits the technology into an external accessory that connects to the phone via its USB-C port. It then draws energy from the wireless charging mat and sends it through the USB-C port, which then recharges your phone’s battery.

If you hate the idea of carrying around extra accessories, thankfully for the most part, the wireless adapters we’ve come across so far are usually small and thin enough that they can be slipped inside of the phone’s case, so you won’t even know that it’s there.

The downside is that it takes up your USB-C port so you will have to remove it if you need the port for wired charging or if you need to transfer data from your phone to your computer and vice versa.

Here are some of the wireless charging adapters that we’ve found that should work with most USB-C phones:

Wireless charger

Now that you’ve gotten a wireless charging adapter, you will need a wireless charging mat to charge your phone on. If you’re new to wireless charging and don’t already have one lying around at home or the office, then these are some charging mats you might be interested in checking out:

Keep in mind that generally speaking, these wireless charging solutions don’t have the same charging speeds compared to higher-end phones that come with built-in wireless charging, but if you’re fine with slower speeds and aren’t in any particular rush, then this setup should work for you.
