Do you reckon that it might be time to switch from an iPhone to Android? If you are, there are a plethora of Android devices to choose from, but if you want the true Google experience, then getting a Pixel is your best bet.
In fact, Google is trying to tempt iPhone users with Pixel phones because from now until the 26th of December, the company is increasing the trade-in value for older iPhones if you were to trade up to a Pixel 5a. This covers iPhones from 2017 to 2018, which includes the iPhone X, XR, XS, and XS Max.
What this deal means is that when you trade-in any of the iPhones we just mentioned for the Pixel 5a, Google will actually be offering you $100 more in trade-in value compared to if you were to trade it in for a Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro. We suppose that makes sense given that the Pixel 6 series is Google’s flagship lineup, but we’re a bit surprised the company isn’t trying to make for a bigger push for its Pixel 6 phones.
According to 9to5Google, this bump in trade-in value is something of a rarity. This is because trade-in values for the iPhone 11 and newer are pretty much unchanged whether you trade up to the Pixel 5a or Pixel 6, so it’s interesting that Google is giving users more value for even older devices.
Assuming you take Google up on their offer, this means that based on the current price of the Pixel 5a, you would essentially be getting the phone for free. It’s a good deal and if you have an older iPhone lying around, this could be a cost-effective way of nabbing yourself a brand new handset.
