We are living in the age where smartphones are being priced at the $1,000 mark and higher. We might grumble and complain, but the fact of the matter is that people are willing to pay those prices, and as such, handset makers have no incentive to reduce them.
If you’re worried that 2022’s Samsung Galaxy S22 series could be seeing a price increase, then we have some potentially good news for you. According to a report from SamMobile, they have heard from their sources that the Galaxy S22 will actually be maintaining the same pricing as the Galaxy S21.
For context, the base model of the Galaxy S21 is priced at $800, which means that assuming this report is accurate, that’s how much the Galaxy S22 could cost as well. To be fair, $800 isn’t exactly cheap or what many would consider to be “affordable”, but at least we’re not seeing it creep up to the $900 or $1,000 price tag.
Of course, the higher-end models will probably end up being priced higher, but that’s to be expected, but if you don’t mind owning the base model, then this is potentially great news. At the moment it is unclear when the Galaxy S22 could launch.
It was previously expected to launch in January, but reports dating back to October suggested that Samsung could delay the launch slightly in favor of the Galaxy S21 FE, but we won’t know for sure until the company makes an official announcement.
