Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra powered by Exynos 2200 pops up on Geekbench
While we aren’t expecting any other major smartphone announcements until the beginning of next year, that doesn’t mean that we can’t get excited about what’s in the pipeline. The Galaxy S22 series has been seen in renders and a few leaks, but now, the Galaxy S22 Ultra has made its appearance on Geekbench.
The version that passed through Geekbench is powered by the Exynos 2200, which means that this is likely going to be the international variant. In the results, we learned that there will be at least one model with 8GB of RAM, however, we won’t be surprised to see another version released with 12GB of RAM, similar to the S21 Ultra.
As for the results, this Exynos 2200 powered Galaxy S22 Ultra provided a single-core score of 691, along with a 3,167 multi-core score. This puts it in line with the likes of Google’s Tensor chip and the Snapdragon 888, but it still falls a bit short of Apple’s A15 Bionic processor found in the iPhone 13 lineup. We can also see that the S22 Ultra will launch with Android 12, which is something that was a foregone conclusion, but it’s still nice to see the confirmation.
Samsung is expected to launch the entire Galaxy S22 series sometime in February, with the S22 and S22+ offering more “reserved” upgrades, while the S22 Ultra could be huge. Previous renders and leaks point to the S22 Ultra sporting a complete redesign, essentially turning it into a Galaxy Note device with a built-in slot for an included S Pen. Other specs for the Ultra include a quad-camera array, a 6.8-inch AMOLED display, and the potential for a 5,000mAh battery complete with support for 45W charging speeds.
If the Galaxy S22 Ultra is as powerful as we expect and does actually include a slot for the S Pen, this could truly mean the end of the line for the Galaxy Note. We have just a couple of more months to go, so expect to see even more leaks and rumors until the final unveiling.
