USB-C is undoubtedly the future standard of ports. Not only can it handle a variety of gadgets ranging from tablets, to smartphones, to speakers, keyboard, and mice, but it also works with monitors where you can hook a laptop to a USB-C monitor and have it not only mirror your laptop’s display or act as a secondary screen, but it keeps it powered too.
This means that long gone are the days where we would need multiple cables for different devices, streamlining the entire process. The problem is that some laptop makers, such as Apple, went a bit too far in their zeal to make USB-C the standard and removed pretty much all other ports in the process.
If you happen to own one of Apple’s older laptops or any other brand that has made the decision to switch over fully to USB-C, then you’re going to need a hub, and the good news is that UGREEN has a couple of options that you can consider.
As the name suggests, this is a USB-C hub that offers the users seven different types of ports/connections. It will connect to your laptop using USB-C, and in turn you will have access to a bunch of other ports.
This includes two USB-A ports so you can connect non-USB-C flash drives or external drives to, an SD card reader which is perfect for photographers or videographers who need to transfer files, a microSD card for your phone’s addon storage, a 1000Mbps Ethernet port if you prefer using a wired connection to the internet, an extra USB-C port if you have other USB-C devices, and also a HDMI port.
The HDMI port is an interesting and useful addition. If your laptop doesn’t have many spare USB-C ports, this could be one way to take full advantage of that port while allow you to attach additional displays.
If you’re trying to save some money, then maybe UGREEN’s 6-in-1 USB-C hub could be an alternative. It has pretty much all the same ports and features as the 7-in-1 model. We’re talking about a HDMI port that will support displays of up to 4K at 60Hz, 3x USB-A ports, and a microSD card port and an SD card port.
The main difference here is that UGREEN has not opted to give this hub an extra USB-C port in favor of an extra USB-A port, and it has also done away with the Ethernet port, so you won’t be able to use a wired internet connection.
The upside here is that it is cheaper and if you primarily need a hub just for your devices and accessories that still rely on USB-A, then this could be worth considering as it is quite a decent option.
UGREEN is offering general discounts from Nov 25th through Nov 29th with additional savings when applying specific discount codes for the products below. They’re also offering a Black Friday Giveaway, featuring an iPhone 13 and an assortment of UGREEN products.
