One of the Pixel 6’s cool new features is the Magic Eraser tool that lets users easily remove unwanted objects in a photo. Unfortunately for Pixel owners, if you happen to have automatic updates enabled, the latest update to Google Photos has erased the tool from the app.
According to user reports, it seems that updating the app to version 5.67 has resulted in the tool being removed. This isn’t Google pulling the feature but rather it appears to be a bug with the update that removed it by accident. The company has stated that they are aware of it and told The Verge that they are working on a fix that will bring the tool back.
The bad news is that at the moment, there’s nothing users can do if they’ve updated their app. Uninstalling the update doesn’t seem to work, which means that users who have updated the app will have no choice but to wait for the next update that should hopefully fix this problem.
Google has also pulled the update from the Play Store which means that users who haven’t updated won’t be getting the update and should still be able to use the feature. The company states that the update did not affect everyone and that it was an issue in the early rollout process, so hopefully not many people were inconvenienced by it.
