A lot of phones these days pack multiple camera sensors, so seeing a phone with 3-4 cameras isn’t very uncommon, but it seems that Vivo wants to take things to the next level because according to the latest rumors, the company’s next smartphone, the Vivo NEX 5, is rumored to pack as many as seven cameras.
The phone is rumored to feature a single 32MP front-facing camera under the display, and on the back there will be six image sensors. It is unclear what kind of sensors we’re looking at, but maybe we shouldn’t be too impressed just yet.
This is because we’ve seen how some smartphone makers have advertised having multiple camera sensors, when in reality some of those secondary cameras have no point to them, and that by itself it probably won’t be that useful. It is possible that Vivo could go down that route, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Other rumored specs of the Vivo NEX 5 include a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, a 4,500mAh battery, and support for 66W fast charging. Under the hood, the phone is also rumored to be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 chipset, so it should be a high-performing smartphone.
The phone is expected to be launched next year, so maybe we’ll hear more about it come CES or MWC 2022.
