Samsung is attempting to break into the cloud gaming space again

Cloud gaming is a fantastic idea. It takes all the heavy processing away from the gamer and lets them enjoy games as it was meant to be enjoyed regardless of what hardware they have or what device they’re using.

We’re already seeing companies like Microsoft, Google, and NVIDIA enter the cloud gaming space, and now it looks like Samsung wants in on the action as well. During the Samsung Developer Conference 2021, the company revealed that they are developing its own cloud gaming platform and that it would be available through the company’s smart TVs running on Tizen.

Samsung did not share too many details about the upcoming service, but basically it sounded like gamers would be able to enjoy all kinds of games on their Tizen smart TVs without having to purchase high-end gaming hardware. They also revealed that developers would be developing features that would take advantage of the smart TV’s features for a more immersive experience.

The company does not mention if these games will be streamable through their smartphones, but if it were, we wouldn’t be surprised. This is also not Samsung’s first foray into cloud gaming. The company attempted to launch their own service way back in 2012, but the company they partnered up with, Gaikai, was eventually acquired by Sony.
