Have you ever wondered why sometimes you take a photo and it ends up looking very blue or overly orange? This is sometimes due to the fact that the white balance chosen by your camera is of the wrong “temperature”, where “cooler” photos are usually blue-ish in color, while those with a “warmer” color come across as yellow/orange.
This is usually not that difficult to fix in the editing process, but generally speaking, it’s best to get the best possible shot out of the camera first before trying to fix it in post. This is why we think it’s pretty cool that Google has issued a new update for its Pixel 6 phones where one of the changes comes in the form of a temperature slider for the camera app.
With this slider, you can change the color temperature of your photo from one that’s warm to one that’s cool. This is entirely up to you to decide how you want to play this, but at least the option is now available before you snap the photo so you can save yourself some time and effort in editing the image after it’s been snapped.
It isn’t necessarily the most groundbreaking feature we’ve seen, but it is one of those quality of life improvements that makes the native camera app such a joy to use.
