A few weeks, a previously-unannounced TicWatch smartwatch appeared in an unboxing video, revealing that Mobvoi was close to announcing something brand new. Well, those who have been patiently waiting to see what’s been in the works no longer have to wait.
Mobvoi has officially announced the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS, keeping much of the same great design that we fell in love with from the original TicWatch Pro 3. However, a lot of changes have been made to make this quite a compelling option in the smartphone market.
Powering the Pro 3 Ultra is the Snapdragon Wear 4100, which Mobvoi claims will provide up to 40% better performance compared to the Pro 3 and its Wear 4100 chip. In order to achieve those faster numbers, Mobvoi has also integrated a “dual processor system”, that appears to be designed to provide faster app loading.
Speaking of battery life, between the processors and the inclusion of Mobvoi’s unique FTSN display, the Pro 3 Ultra is said to offer up to three days of battery life on a single charge. And if you turn on “Essential Mode”, that number skyrockets to a whopping 45 days. Of course, this mode essentially just turns your smartwatch into a “normal” watch, but at least you won’t need to charge it every few days.
Durability should be of no concern with the Pro 3 Ultra, as it features an IP68 water and dust resistance, along with using the MIL-STD-810G standard. And the display itself is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass, to help protect against scratches and drops.
In terms of health tracking and workouts, Mobvoi’s latest smartwatch doesn’t disappoint. The Pro 3 Ultra offers all-day heart rate monitoring, along with IHB/AFib detection and even the ability to measure your energy levels. There are more than 20 different workout modes available to use with the Pro 3 Ultra, so you can track pretty much everything that you’ll want and need to from your wrist.
Software is something that was going to be a big question coming in, but unfortunately, it seems that Mobvoi is stuck using Wear OS 2.0 with the Pro 3 Ultra. Nevertheless, you can continue using the built-in NFC chip for Google Pay, along with downloading songs from Spotify directly to your smartwatch for offline playback. Mobvoi doesn’t provide any indication as to when Wear OS 3 will arrive, but we’re still expecting it to come sometime next year.
If you’re interested in the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra, then you can order one starting today directly from Mobvoi’s website, or from Amazon. Pricing comes in at $299, matching up with its predecessor.
