Google Pixel 6 Leaked Renders Blass 18

Google Pixel 6 Pro’s camera module might be a tough repair job

Sending your phone back to the manufacturer who made it for repairs is usually advised because the company obviously knows their device pretty well, and you’re guaranteed original parts and components. The problem is that official repairs can be pretty expensive, which is why third-party repair shops exist.

Unfortunately for those planning on getting the Google Pixel 6 Pro, you might want to be extra careful with its cameras. This is because according to an alleged leaked repair manual for the phone, it seems that the camera module on the handset is very difficult to repair which means that third-party shops might not be willing to take on the job.

This also means that if there is something wrong with the cameras, you’ll have to send it back to Google to get it fixed, which in turn means that it could be a pricey repair job. According to the manual, this is apparently because Google has opted to pair the camera module with a unique device from its factory and is calibrated at the vendor’s site, suggesting that it might be near impossible for third-party repairs.

To be fair to Google, they aren’t alone in making their devices impossible to repair. Apple is notorious for pulling these kinds of stunts where they disable features like Touch ID or Face ID when it detects third-party components.

This doesn’t mean that the Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro are bad phones to avoid, but rather if you’re someone who plans to keep their phone around for an extended period of time, this is something you’ll want to consider for the long-term.
