When foldable phones first hit the market, it was pretty much just Samsung and Huawei. Huawei has been a bit quiet on the foldable front these days, but that could change in the future. A tweet by leakster Digital Chat Station has revealed that Huawei could be working on a new foldable handset.
What’s interesting about this claim is that apparently this phone will be targeted at female customers specifically. The post claims that the handset will be “positioned as a high-end machine in the female market”, and apparently it can be “configured”, although we’re not sure what that means.
The design of the phone will also be one that many of you are familiar with because it seems that Huawei has taken design cues from Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip series. This unnamed Huawei foldable will also sport a vertical flip meaning that we could end up with a phone with a form factor akin to the Galaxy Z Flip.
Given the popularity of the Galaxy Z Flip series, we can’t say we’re too surprised that other manufacturers might also be keen on adopting this form factor.
That being said, we’re not sure what Huawei plans to do to make this phone more appealing to women, so it will be interesting to find out. There is currently no word on when this phone will be hitting the market, but rumors have pegged it for a potential launch by the end of 2021.
