Google One on Pixel 5 on table

Pixel Pass could be Google’s answer to Apple One

Last year, Apple launched its Apple One subscription bundle. Prior to this, the company offered customers separate subscriptions for games, music, and cloud storage, but they later combined it into various Apple One subscription tiers to make it easier and slightly more affordable for users.

It turns out that Google could have something similar in the works as well. This is according to M. Brandon Lee of This Is Tech Today who claims that Google could be working on a new subscription bundle called the Pixel Pass.

Similar to Apple One, Pixel Pass will offer users a bundled subscription for various Google services. We’re not sure what’s inside the bundle, but the leaked presentation slide shared by Lee suggests it will offer “key first-party services” like Google One, Play Pass, YouTube Premium, and even network coverage by Google Fi.

Google could also one-up Apple by offering an upgrade to a new Pixel phone every year, along with extended device warranty via Preferred Care or Device Protection. It sounds great, to be honest, but there is a catch as with all things that are too good to be true.

This is because in order to purchase a Pixel Pass, users will need to purchase a Pixel device. This means that if you’re an Android user with a different phone brand, then you won’t be able to take advantage of the Pixel Pass. Also, we imagine that the promise of being able to upgrade to a new Pixel phone yearly and with extended warranty, it probably won’t come cheap either.

It is possible that there could be more than one Pixel Pass subscription tier where users can choose just to subscribe to services, but we won’t know for sure until it’s been announced.
