Android 12 should be arriving any day now, and that means that Pixel fans will be able to grab the latest and greatest from Google quicker than anyone else. This has almost always been the case, and then we have to wait for carriers and phone makers to adopt and implement new features into their “skins”. Then, carriers usually have a tendency of injecting a whole bunch of bloatware before the software can finally be rolled out to the customers.
With Android 12 getting close, Des from T-Mobile has shared which T-Mobile devices are in the Development stage for Android 12. The list may not seem too long, but it’s comprised of devices that you would expect, such as the Pixel lineup going back to the Pixel 3a, along with the Galaxy S21 series and OnePlus 9. Here’s the full list of devices according to T-Mobile’s support page for software updates:
One of these devices is not like the others and that’s the T-Mobile REVVL V+. The REVVL V+ was announced back in July of 2021 and provides a budget-friendly 5G option for T-Mobile subscribers. It’s not that we aren’t excited to see active software development for this device, it’s just a bit of a surprise. Maybe the REVVL V+ has sold better than anticipated, making it an easy decision for T-Mobile to work towards bringing Android 12.
No matter what the case, it’s nice and refreshing to see a bit of transparency from a U.S. carrier in regards to software updates. At the time of this writing, all of these devices are still listed under the Development stage, with no options being found under Testing or Complete. Hopefully, T-Mobile will keep up with this list, and let us know if and when new devices are being developed for Android 12.
