Leading up to Samsung’s unveiling of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3, rumors and reports suggested that Samsung was going “all-in” with the devices. The company was rumored to be expecting to sell between 6 and 7 million units before the end of 2021. And a new report from The Korea Herald suggests that Samsung is getting things moving in the right direction.

According to this report, the Galaxy Z series of devices will “surpass the 1 million sales milestone” over this coming weekend in the company’s home country of South Korea. What makes this so impressive is that Samsung hasn’t seen this type of success with a series of devices since the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy S8, which still remain as the “fastest to top the 1 million sales mark.”
What shouldn’t come as much of a surprise is that the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is said to be selling twice as much as the Galaxy Z Fold 3. Given the much-lower starting price, along with being available in different and fun colors, the Z Flip 3 is definitely the more “accessible” device out of the two. Coming in with a folding smartphone that is priced at less than what you can get the Galaxy S21 Ultra for, seems to be the key to Samsung’s success in the 2nd half of 2021.
It’s also been rumored that because of the success seen by the Galaxy Z Flip 3, Samsung has reportedly scrapped the expected release of the Galaxy S21 FE. Rising sales numbers, coupled with the ongoing global chip shortage, might have given Samsung enough to cancel the project altogether. Although this may not be entirely true just yet, as a new Samsung device just passed through the FCC, which is likely the Galaxy S21 FE.
Even if sales numbers in other countries aren’t as impressive as they are in South Korea, having the same level of popularity as the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy S8 is some pretty good company. We’ll just have to wait and see how the results look in the coming months.
