Earlier in the week, we learned a bit more about the potential OnePlus Buds Z2 earbuds that are rumored to be in the works. According to leaks and rumors, the Buds Z2 will feature Active Noise Cancelation offering a big upgrade over the original OnePlus Buds Z. A new rumor has cropped up suggesting that OnePlus will also be improving connectivity and battery life with the Buds Z2.
Thanks to GizNext, the Buds Z2 are said to feature Bluetooth 5.2, and each earbud will include a 40mAh battery. This will supposedly lead to providing up to five hours battery life with ANC enabled, or seven hours with ANC turned off.
The included charging case is said to provide up to a total of 27 hours of battery when using ANC all of the time, but that number jumps to 38 hours if you turn off the defining feature. This is thanks to the 520mAh battery packed into the case, which itself can be charged back to 100% in about an hour and a half.
Some of the other features expected to arrive with the Buds Z2 include support for Google Assistant, as a double-tap on the earbud will activate Assistant. While it’s great to have a larger battery compared to the original along with ANC, it would appear as though OnePlus won’t be including wireless charging. Instead, we’ll need to lean back on the USB-C charging port on the case. Finally, these earbuds are said to be IP55 water and sweatproof, while the charging case itself will feature an IPX4 rating.
There’s no indication as to when the OnePlus Buds Z2 could be unveiled, however, speculation points to these being announced alongside the rumored OnePlus 9 RT.
